Sangria Silo (Take Two)

This is the second go-around for this post.  I accidentally deleted my website Friday (7/15) and am re-posting this.

One of my favorite pieces this year is my sangria silo. but it dawned on me it might need a little explaining on how to use it. First you need a Sangria recipe, which I will provide.

You will need:

  • a bottle of red wine (your favorite)
  • 2 oranges cut into slices (or lemons, strawberries, grapes, etc.)
  • 1 cup of vodka
  • 1/2 cup of sugar

Mix your wine, vodka, and sugar. Pour into your silo and place in your fruit.  Included with the sangria silo is a fruit weight to make sure your fruit is completely submerged to absorb your perfect concoction.  The weight is also great for making fruit infused vodka, brandied plums, or even lemon/limeade.

Once you have submerged your weight you can place the lid on your silo and pop it in the fridge to chill. No diluted drinks here.

When ready to serve, use a fork to pull up the weight and harvest your infused fruit. You may also pour directly from the silo because it is designed with an abrupt edge to create an ease of pouring.

Enjoy! Also remember when you are not using your silo for entertaining you can always use it as a storage canister for flour, sugar, teabags, or any sweet treat.
